Happy Birthday, Fan -- March 5, 2008

Happy 85 th Birthday, Fan ! Wow, that is an accomplishment.
Hope your day was enjoyable and even offering a little surprise.
Wishing you another healthy year with many good memories.

thought...

I think joy and sweetness and affection are a spiritual path. We're here to know God, to love and serve God, and to be blown away by the beauty and miracle of nature. You just have to get rid of so much baggage to be light enough to dance, to sing, to play. You don't have time to carry grudges; you don't have time to cling to the need to be right.

- author Anne Lamott, in a recent interview.

Al's Funeral

On the night that Whitney and I normaly go to pitch, we went to the funeral home of her pitching coach instead. I guess God decided it was Al's time to go but I don't know if I agree with it. He had too much wisdom and knowlege and the right perspective on sports to be done yet. Someday maybe. Rick

Uuughhhh...

The plane left for Florida at 7:57 this morning - the plan: flying into Orlando and driving over to Tampa to hang with the cousins . We were supposed to hang out with the newlyweds for a long weekend... but we decided that the stomach flu for the entire family was an option not to be missed.

At 5 a.m. this morning, we cancelled our tickets. We figured walking onto the plane with the up-chuck bags wasn't a pleasant option.

So, we've been cooped up at home all day only wishing we didn't need to miss a great weekend with Steph & Nate... sorry we couldn't make it guys. Enjoy the warmth & sun for us. Love ya!

Dear little birthday boy....
You are loved....
How did you get so big so fast!!

More Snow Days!

There are things to discover in this wintry weather! (Bundle up and enjoy!) Did you know that when you walk under high tension power lines in a snowstorm it sounds like rain on the roof?
Or: that when you walk in the woods when the wind is blowing in the tree tops the branches moan, crackle and snap? Or: that the water is flowing in the creeks even though you can't see it? And if you looked at the right time last night you could see an almost full moon through the snowstorm.
May every snow angel watch over you today!
