Spent, wasted, toast
I don't remember the last time I felt so exhausted. I can hardly think straight. I walked out the door from work tonight without my purse and cell phone. I never forget them, but tonight my brain is in slow-mo.
Here's how the week went:
Monday: Randy leaves for Philedephia after getting the kids off in the morning. The whole family has colds. I picked the kids up after work and the evening went fairly well until bathtime. I was quite proud of how the evening went as a single parent. I was even looking like the kids would get to bed early which might give me a few minutes to myself before I retired to bed. But...................., Jaden slipped in the tub and split his lip open. We headed to the med center for stitches. Sleep total for the night: 4 hours
Tuesday: Not too much drama. Keeping an eye on the strange lump underneath Nadia's jaw, seems to be getting bigger. Randy's still gone. Sleep total: 4 hours
Wednesday: Call the doctor. They want to see Nadia yet that day. Leave work at 3 to make a 4 pm appointment. Doctor is quite concerned. They refer me to a pediatric surgeon - appt. at 8 am the next morning. Nadia's blood needs to be drawn before the appt, so I head downtown to the Spectrum lab. Randy returned at 9:30 p.m. Stress and tension are in the air all evening. Sleep total: 7 hours
Thursday: Pediatric surgeon diagnosis the "lump" as an infected lymph noted. A sigh of relief and a prescription for an antibiotic. We celebrate with breakfast at the Red Geranium. We notice the lump seems a bit more enlarged in the evening, maybe from the doctor messing with it? Sleep total: 7 hours of really good sleep (everyone slept through the night!)
Friday: The lump is definitely enlarged. Randy calls the pediatric surgeon and brings her in at 11:30. They lanced it and drained some puss. One big bloodly gauze pad taped to her jaw and continue with antibiotics. We'll see what tomorrow brings. Praying for some much needed sleep. Jaden has to go back to the med center tomorrow to get his stitches pulled.
In the midst of all this, one of the most memorable moments from the week was in the lab waiting room. I watched an exchange between a 3 year year old girl and her mom. It ended with the girl crying followed by mom saying, "Shut Up!" after about 15 seconds of crying. It took all my willpower not to jump up and wrap her in my arms. Even after a drama filled week, I would be willing to take her home and deal with all of her issues along with my families. I think I'd even sacrifice some more sleep.
God, thanks for your presence among us this week. May that little girl be blessed by love from you in some tangible way.
Now, I'm off to bed!!!!

Holy Moley
We're talking about Jesus and God tonight, and I feebly attempt to explain the trinity to a 4-year old boy. "God and Jesus are the same," I tell him. "Is that true in real life," he asks with a wrinkled nose. I tell him it is. His response: "Holy Moley!" Perhaps we should all be so amazed by the three-in-one.
